The Quiet Pond (2021)
The Quiet Pond is an 8-minute immersive projection artwork. Created as a part of "RECHARGER/Unwind" an immersive contemplative experience showcasing ten striking generative artworks created by some of the most prominent local and international artists in the world of digital arts. The Quiet Pond was created for OASIS's Panorama Gallery 3 in Montreal, Canada. It is one of the biggest permanent immersive spaces in the world.
The Quiet Pond is a metaphor of the comfort zone, one of the three zones, a popular psychological theory that inspired the creation of audiovisual surround poem. Theory assumes that humans have three psychic states that define their condition - comfort zone, growth zone and panic zone. Most of the motivational coaches these days agree that you should leave your comfort zone. But is it really always that simple ? This is always an individual decision and everyone should reflect on it in a contemplative atmosphere. The spatial presentation will provide an insight into primal instincts such as fear or anxiety deeply rooted in our contact with nature and the ambition for the notorious human need for exploration that drives all progress. Viewers are key actors in the immersive experience, they interact with enviroment that is becoming a visualization of theirs internal emotions landscape. Aim of the presentation is to make the viewers aware of each other presence and ask them should you leave your comfort zone ?
